ObituaryMar 23, 2015  OBITUARY: ENOSBURGH - On Sunday, March 22, 2015, Roger Jacobs Sr. lost his long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and its complications, He left this earth peacefully in his home in the arms of his loving wife.

Roger was born in East Berkshire, VT on January 24, 1939 to the late Jessie (Hogaboom) and George Jacobs Sr. Besides his parents, Roger was predeceased by his siblings, George Jacobs Jr. and Arlene Peters.

Roger married the love of his life, Shirley Guilmette, on July 2, 1960. They Celebrated 54 years of marriage. They were blessed with two precious children, Pamela and Roger Jr. who survive him along with their spouses, Alan Marshall and Louise (Longley) Jacobs and their children, Colby and Danielle Marshall and Jason, Kelsey and Ashley Jacobs; and one great grandson, Bentley. From the time he held out his hands to touch those of his children, his heart belonged to them and he was totally involved in providing them with the best possible lives. He is also survived by one brother, Stephen and his spouse Judy and their family and one sister, Lora Jacobs and her family; his mother-in-law, Thelma Gross; sisters-in-law, Joanne O'Brien, Marshia Regnier., Gloria Afanasiew, Colleen Mason and Jolyn Farradaz and their families, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Roger's outstanding work ethic was instilled at a young age when he learned to operate heavy equipment in his father's logging operations and assisted in the production of maple syrup. He later became a 30 plus year employee of Rock-Tenn, retiring in 1993 due to health reasons. He showed great inner strength, courage and dignity throughout his illness and was carried through with his faith and the love and compassion of his family.

Roger was a member of the Vermont National Guard, Company B, 1st Battalion of the 172nd Armored Division in Enosburg Falls and the American Legion Post #12 of Richford.

The hobbies Roger most enjoyed were fishing and hunting. He took great pride in growing vegetables that he generously shared with family and friends and working with and restoring old tractors, however he was best known for his gentle heart, kind ways and unique sense of humor. He was truly the best father, husband, grandfather, son, sibling and friend anyone could ever have. He will remain always in our minds and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Roger's life will begin with visitation at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls and continue with a service by Fr. Roger Charbonneau at 2:00 PM.
