Sunday morning at the Capital Nursing Home , 31 Barre St., where she had been a patient for two years.

She had been in seemingly good health, and had taken her daily walk to the downtown section on Saturday.

Born Nov. 13, 1881, in Moretown, she was the daughter of Louis and Clara (Farnham) Shontell.

On June 2, 1902, she was married in Waterbury to Peter H. Berno. The couple spent most of their married life
in Montpelier. Mr Berno died in Montpelier in September of 1957.

Mrs. Berno was a charter member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a member of St. Augustine's Church.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Irene) Culver of Northfield; two granddaughters, Mrs. Richard
(Mary) Woden and Mrs. Christine Kovacs, both of Hillsboro, NH, six great grandchildren; two sisters,
Mrs. Frank Machia of Riverton and Mrs. George (Clara) Clement of Waterbury.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 in St. Augustine's Church. Burial will be in St. Augustine's
Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Guare and Sons Funeral Home, 30 School St., Montpelier, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers Te family requests that donations may be made to the Heart Fund
which may be sent to the Washinton County Heart Council, 7 Beckley Court, Barre.

Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will meet tonight at 8 at the funeral home to recite prayers.


Service for Mrs. Berno

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtie Berno , 83, who died Sunday at the Capital Nursing Home
in Montpelier, were held Tuesday morning at 10 in St. Augustine's Church.

The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Harold T. Field officiated at the high funeral Mass. In the sanctuary
were the Rev. Pierre LaVallee and the Rev. James Dunn.

Bearers were Paul Brown, Howard Doyle, William Heney, Kenneth Jewett, J. Richard Guare
and Paul Poulos.

Burial took place in St. Augustine's Cemetery where committal prayers were said.

Monday night, the Rev. James Dunn recited prayers at the Guare and Sons Funeral home.
Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, of which Mrs Berno was a charter member,
gathered there for prayers at 8 .

Relatives from out of town attending the services were Mr and Mrs Paul Culver of Northfield;
Mr and Mrs Richard Wooden and Mr and Mrs Kenneth Kovacs, all of Hillsboro, NH, and Mrs Carrie
Shontell of Moretown. There were also many friends from Berlin and other nearby towns
