| Obituary | Feb 17, 2012 | OBITUARY: FERRISBURGH - Elaine Briggs Moorby, 87, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. She was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Ferrisburgh, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Bushey Briggs. managed the family farm for many years, and she belonged to Champlain Valley Fiddlers and enjoyed playing fiddle. Elaine is survived by her children, Beth Kirby of Vergennes, John P. Forand Jr. of New Baltimore, Mich., and Michael Forand of Moriah Center, N.Y; seven grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, John P. Forand Sr; her second husband, Fred Moorby; and a daughter, Anne E. Gardner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at St. Peter's Church in Vergennes. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Vergennes, in the spring.
