ObituaryMay 7, 2016  OBITUARY: Blanche Esther Jarvis Wilder, VT – Blanche Esther Jarvis, 90, formerly of Wilder died at her daughter’s home in Norwich, on Friday May 6, 2016 where she has resided for the past several years.
She was born November 6, 1925 in Hartford, VT, one of eight children to Vincent and Josephine (Royer) Coutermarsh.
Blanche graduated from Hartford High School Class of 1943.
She was married to Norbert J. Jarvis, Sr. on January 1, 1947 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she was a devout member all of her life. They made their home, and raised their family in West Lebanon, NH and Wilder, VT for many years. She worked at the Wilder Heel Factory and The Hartford Woolen Mill before staying home to raise her children and providing Child Care for many local families.
After raising her four children, she became a caretaker working at Wilder Community Care Home, Westboro House and Hillcrest House. She also worked at Marion Cross School, in Norwich, for many years.

Blanche enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, gardening, feeding and watching birds, crocheting, camping, and travelling, particularly to the Maine Coast. She was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2571 Auxiliary, in White River Jct., VT.

Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Norbert, in 1997; her parents, a sister, Lucille Bellimer as well as three brothers, Ira, Vincent, and Walter Coutermarsh.

She is survived by two sons, Paul (Clara) Jarvis, of White River Jct., VT and Norbert (Carol) Jarvis, Jr., of Cornish, NH; two daughters, Joan (Earl) Smith of Norwich, VT and Carol (Earle) Bostwick of Grafton, NH; six grandchildren – Tammie, Patrick, Michelle, Timothy, Heather, and Stephanie; 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great- great-children; three sisters, Irene Maheu, of Center Barnstead, NH, Mary Blackmere of West Lebanon, NH, and Anne Johnson of West Hartford, VT.

Visiting hours will be held Monday May 9, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday May 10, 2016 at 10AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, in White River Jct. VT, with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Rte. 5 next to Knight Funeral Home, who have been entrusted with the arrangements. A Mercy Meal will take place at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Hall to follow.
