ObituaryJun 7, 2013  OBITUARY: CASTLETON - Jean Arlene Coutermarsh, 81, of Castleton and a former longtime resident of Benson died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at her residence.
She was born May 26, 1932, in Lebanon, N.H., the daughter of Victor and Pearl (Camp) Gray.
Mrs. Coutermarsh graduated from Hanover High School in 1951.
She had been employed at Colburn's Jewelry Store for a while prior to her marriage to Walter Coutermarsh Sr. on November 16, 1952.
Mrs. Coutermarsh relocated in 1971 from White River Junction to Benson, where she helped her husband to run the family farm. She was also employed for many years at Douglas Orchard and Crescent Orchard, picking and packing apples. She moved to Castleton in 2010 to live with her daughter.
She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter Leah Coutermarsh of Castleton; two sons, Walter Coutermarsh Jr. and his wife Darlene of Benson, and Bill Coutermarsh of Rutland; two sisters, Janet Savage of Orwell and Joyce Miller and her husband Raymond of Hartford; two granddaughters, Brittany Coutermarsh of Benson, and Lindsey Coutermarsh of Fair Haven; a grandson Walter Smith of Hampton; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1993, a daughter Teresa Smith in 2009, and a great-granddaughter Lori A. Smith in 2008.
Funeral services are pending at the Durfee Funeral Home.

Burial will be at a later date in the Mount Olive Cemetery in Wilder, VT.
