ObituaryDec 30, 2008  OBITUARY: MAHONEY, Thomas H. "Buddy" Mahoney Jr. Age 86,a resident of Lantana, FL since 1957, passed away peacefully in Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, FL on December 24, 2008. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth (Bettye) Mastrangelo Mahoney. Thomas was born February 4, 1922 in Mediord, MA , son of the late Thomas H. and Florence R. (Lucia) Mahoney Sr. He graduated from Medford High School in 1941. He was an exceptional football player. He served as a United States Marine in WWII in the North Atlantic and the South Pacific aboard the USS Alabama (BB-60). He is also survived by his son, Thomas H. Mahoney Ill and his wife Jan and his daughter Paula Smith and her husband Jack. He was predeceased by his loving son, John C. Mahoney in 1999. Grandpa will also be lovingly missed by his grandchildren; John Mahoney, Kelli Maxson. Ken Mahoney, Natalie Davis. Ryan Smith, great-grandchildren Zach Mahoney Katie Mahoney, Kevin Davis, Keegan Davis and Kaleigh Mahoney. "Buddy" is also survived by his brothers; Paul, Charles and Joseph Mahoney of MA. He was predeceased by his brother James and his sisters, Ruth O'Brien, Frances DeMasi, Phyllis Mahoney. Virginia Fennelly, Joan Mahoney, Florence Petronio, Jean Clark and Barbara Edgerly. He is also survived by many other loving family members, friends and WWII buddies from across the country. He will also be missed by his 'furry friends' Tasha and Tracey. To those who knew "Buddy", he will be remembered for his loving ways, great sense of humor and his superb cooking. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. He was like a father to many people in his life. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 from 2:00 Ð 4:00 PM and 6:00 Ð 8:00 PM. The service will be on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 11 AM at Palm Beach Memorial Park located at 3691 Seacrest Blvd., Lantana, FL 33462 (561) 586-1237.
