ObituarySep 2, 2009  OBITUARY: NORTH LAWRENCE - Gordon G. Archer, 79, of North Lawrence passed away Aug. 29, 2009 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam, where he had been a patient since Aug. 23.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Massena Baptist Church with Pastor Cliff Boice officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Northfield, Vt.
He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Beatrice St. Pier of North Lawrence; a son, Al Archer of Skowhegan, Maine; four step-daughters, Donna and Gerald Lashomb of Norfolk, Barbara and Garry Fetterly of North Lawrence, Pamela and Randy Garrow of Norfolk and Polly Shatraw of Norfolk; two step-sons, Lawrence Deshane of Massena and William Deshane of St. Regis Falls; a brother, Warren Archer of New Port, Vt; 38 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Avis Cadieux and Lillian Belanga.
He was born on June 2, 1930 in Montpelier, Vt., the son of the late Carl and Mildred Holt Archer.
Mr. Archer worked in Northfield, Vt., in the woolen mill for the highway department, the milk factory and on various construction jobs.
He enjoyed fishing.
Arrangements are through the Anderson Funeral Home of North Lawrence.
