| Obituary | Jun 18, 2008 | OBITUARY: Katherine C. McDowell, 96, of Manchester, NH, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 in the Elliot Hospital in Manchester. She was born in West Medford, MA on December 24, 1911, a daughter of the late G. Lester and Etta F. (Thompson) Marston. Mrs. McDowell was a graduate of Medford High School, Bradford Junior College, and Pierce Secretarial School. She had previously lived in Londonderry, NH, Derry, NH, and Bedford, MA for 25 years. While living in Bedford, she was active in the First Congregational Church, the American Red Cross, the PTA, the Bedford Women’s Community Club, and enjoyed ten years as an assistant in Ballroom Dancing with the Carry School of Dance in Boston. In 1976, she retired to Londonderry, where she was active in the Londonderry Presbyterian Church, was a school volunteer, and was a member of the Spacetown Square Dance group. A Christian, in the true sense of the word, she lived her life by the Golden Rule. She is survived by two sons, E. Lester McDowell of Scarborough, ME, Dean R. McDowell of Seminole, FL; one daughter, Jane G. Lundy of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one niece and three nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Edwin H. McDowell in 1998. There are no calling hours. A Celebration of her Life will be held Wednesday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the dining room at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center, 1276 Hanover Street, Manchester,NH.
