ObituaryApr 23, 2008  OBITUARY: BUXTON -- Paul F. Greenwood, 82, of Joy Valley Road and formerly of West Lebanon, N.H., died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford.
He was born in Hanover, N.H., the son of Edward and Della Sanborn Greenwood and attended local schools there. Mr. Greenwood was a World War II Army veteran.
After the war, he started his long career as a cook and attended the Kurn Hattin School in Westminster, Vt., then worked in New York for several years. Mr. Greenwood also worked at the Hotel Coolidge in White River Junction, Vt., and then became the head chef at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H. He retired in 1983 after 25 years of service.
Mr. Greenwood enjoyed playing poker, watching the news and traveling. He was a 40 year member of the Elks Club of Lebanon, N.H., and for 57 years, a member of the American Legion, White River Junction Post #22. He was very active in the preparation of the bean suppers for both clubs. For the past 23 years, Mr. Greenwood lived in Buxton.
A special thank you from the family to Mr. Greenwood's longtime companion of 15+ years and care giver, Constance Connie Lindsay of Buxton.
He was predeceased in death by his wife, Marion Wilmot Greenwood, who died in 1982. Surviving are two sons, Douglas E. Greenwood and wife Jeanine of Siuox Falls, South Dakota, and Carl I. Greenwood and wife Laurie of Hinsdale, N.H., a daughter, Paulette Hilson and husband Jon of Charlotte, N.C; a sister, Hope Woodard and husband Chuck of Warner Robins, Ga; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 1 p.m., at the West Lebanon Cemetery, West Lebanon, N.H. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham.
