ObituaryMay 13, 2006  OBITUARY: FRANKLIN - Betty E. Tatro, age 85, passed away Thursday evening, May 11, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 16, 1920, in Elliotsville, Ky., the daughter of the late Norman and Lucy (Fouch) Goodan.

Betty met Richard J. Tatro while he was in the service stationed in Dayton, Ohio during World War II; they were married on Oct. 12, 1945. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Vermont making their home in Sheldon. Betty was one of the original residents at the Franklin Homestead. She was employed at Union Carbide in St. Albans for 19 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Franklin United Church, Franklin United Church Women, American Legion Auxiliary Post 88 of Sheldon, Franklin Senior Citizens and the 'Birthday Girls.'

She is survived by her children, Norman Tatro of Williamstown, and Becky Barnum and her husband, Brian of Franklin; her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Jessi Barnum and her friend, Darrell Lasly of Swanton, Jeremy Barnum of Franklin and his friend, Bridgett Choquette, Christopher Tatro of Johnson, William Tatro of Jeffersonville, and Melyssa McMillan and her husband, Deren of Charleston, S.C; two sisters-in-law, Irene Tatro of Franklin and Eleanor Goodan of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Richard Tatro on Feb. 28, 1980; her sisters, Wilma, Eula and Edna; and her brothers, Walter and Robert.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning, May 15, 2006, at 10 at the Franklin United Church with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
