ObituaryAug 17, 2017  OBITUARY: JOHNSON – Bernice I. Longley, age 88, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017, on the birthday of her late husband, Cedric, with her loving family by her side at the Forest Hills Community Care Home in Hyde Park.

She was born June 26, 1929 in Richford to the late Harland & Flora (Hogaboom) Marcy.

Bernice married Cedric Longley Sr. on July 5, 1947. They worked side-by-side for many years at their Willow Crossing dairy farm in Johnson, they also took care of cemeteries in the Enosburgh area for several years. Bernice was a great cook and she co-owned and operated Grandma’s Bake Shop in Richford with her sister, Doris. She loved spending time with her family; Christmas was her favorite time of the year, but Sunday dinners were a close second! Bernice always looked forward to outings with her sisters. In her spare time, Bernice liked to crochet and go camping.

She is survived by her children, Cedric Longley Jr. and his wife, Jacquelyn of Eden and Dean Longley and his wife, Gail of Johnson; 3 grandchildren, Julie Longley-Gillen and her husband, Justin, Andrew Longley and Rachal Longley-Wood and her husband, Travis; 2 great grandchildren, Kendra and Morgan; her beloved dog, Missy and many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Cedric Longley Sr; her twin sister, Beatrice Longe and her husband, William; siblings, Doris Rhodes and her husband, Floyd, Gladys Dolan and her husband, Robert and Ethan Marcy and his wife, Joyce and her siblings-in-law, Merrill, Raymond, Thayer, Clarence, Leonard & Charles Longley, Joyce Marcy, Eunice Messier, Hildred Greenwood, Beatrice Malone and Blanche Malone.

Bernice’s family would like to thank the staff from Forest Hills Residential Care Home and Lamoille Home Health & Hospice for the excellent care given to her.

A funeral service will be Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT. Interment will follow in the West Enosburgh Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the funeral at Spears Funeral Home.
