ObituaryDec 1, 2018  OBITUARY: Raymond E. "Ray" Touchette, 80, passed away unexpectedly at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin on Nov. 28, 2018. Ray was born on Feb. 5, 1938 in Stowe, Vermont and brought up by his uncle and aunt, Leopaul and Ruth Touchette along with his cousins, Eileen Langdell and Arlene Churchill. He attended Stowe High School and enlisted in the US Air Force in 1956. He served our country for 4 years, and often talked about his time in Tripoli, Libya. He returned to the United States and completed his 4 years at the North Concord radar base.

Following his military service, he worked at Fairbanks Scales in St. Johnsbury, Vermont where he met his wife, Helen (Perkins) Touchette. Helen and Raymond were united in marriage on Dec. 10, 1966 and were happily married for 51 years.

Ray had a variety of vocations that included working as a mechanic at George Izzo's Service Station in Waterbury, as an electrician for GW Parker Electric, and as a dairy farmer for Raphael Lowe in Duxbury. He was also employed in manufacturing at General Electric in Burlington, later in janitorial services at Crossett Brook Middle School in Duxbury and more recently for Charles O'Brien Cleaning Services.

Ray and Helen had one daughter, Kelly (Touchette) Green of which he nick-named "Fred." Ray and "Fred's" years of hunting and fishing together will be forever cherished. Raymond was a quiet and soft spoken person, with a dry sense of humor. Once you got to know him, he could always put a smile on your face. He always enjoyed watching his "westerns" and laying on his couch taking naps with his best friend Sport, their Pomeranian. His humming to the tune of Daniel Boone or Andy Griffith was contagious. He loved fishing, hunting in Moscow, and 4 wheeler riding in Maine. He was so proud of his two granddaughters, and he adored them so, as they were the twinkle in his eyes. He very nicely nick-named them, Brattnay Mariski and Cheyski (squirt).

He was predeceased by his parents Carmi Touchette, Sr. and Nettie (Miller) Touchette, his aunt and uncle Leopaul and Ruth Touchette, his brothers Richard Touchette, Carmi Touchette, Jr., his sister Rebecca Brunton, and his step sister Sandy Bedell.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Touchette of Moretown, Vt., his daughter Kelly Green and her husband Burton Green, Jr. of Moretown, Vt., his granddaughter Brittani (Green) Trombley and her husband Scott of Moretown, Vt., his granddaughter Cheyanne Green of Moretown, Vt., his brother Ed Touchette, Sr. and his wife Eileen of Duxbury, Vt., and two step sisters Sherry Gile and her husband Dennis in Vermont and Bonnie Montgomery in Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and some great-great nieces and nephews.

To honor his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. He requested to be cremated and there will be a private graveside service in the Spring of 2019 at Riverbank Cemetery in Stowe, Vt. Donations may be made in memory of Raymond Touchette to the Waterbury Ambulance Service, PO Box 95, Waterbury Center VT 05677.
