ObituarySep 29, 2008  OBITUARY: WATERBURY - Carmi Donald Touchette, Jr., 68, of Stowe Street, passed away in the comfort of Hospice care in Jacksonville N.C., where he was being treated for cancer, on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008. Born in Stowe on Aug. 21, 1940, Carmi was the son of the late Carmi D. and Nettie (Miller) Touchette, Sr. He was previously married to the former Sharon Allen.
Carmi was a 1958 graduate of Stowe High School and in that same year, enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving for four years. Upon his discharge, Carmi continued his military service, first with the Army National Guard in Waterbury for four years; the United States Marine Corp. Reserve in Tampa, Fla. for four years and then serving four years with the Army National Guard in Tampa. Remaining in Tampa, Carmi worked in the road and bridge construction field for several years and then returned to Waterbury where he has since made his home. Carmi was a proud and longtime member of the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post #59 of Waterbury where he served as Sergeant of Arms, in the color guard, as service officer and adjutant. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
Carmi is survived by his children, Tony Touchette of Duxbury, Shawnn Touchette of Elmore and Tanya Lynn Touchette; several grandchildren; a sister, Rebecca Brunton of Richford; two brothers, Edward Touchette Sr. and Raymond Touchette, both of Duxbury; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Waterbury American Legion Home on Stowe Street. Inurnment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery in Stowe. The family requests that flowers be omitted; rather memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Harry N.
