ObituaryJul 27, 1996  OBITUARY: BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- Stanley Milton Unwin, 63, of West River Road, died Friday (July 26, 1996) at his home after a long illness.

He was employed for several years in the auto body department of Raymond S. Roberts in Brattleboro. From 1969 to 1979, he owned and operated West River Body Shop in West Dmnmerston, Vt. He later worked for Appropriate Technology and Stow Mills, in their maintenance departments. Most recently he had worked for Road End Farm in Chesterfield, N.H., until taken ill. Mr. Unwin was a veteran of the Korean conflict and served aboard the USS H.F. Bauer and the USS Gainard in the U.S. Navy. From 1958 to 1964 he served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was active in the Vermont National Guard from 1974 to 1988.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as a youth leader, head usher and trustee. He enjoyed church group activities. Mr. Unwin also enjoyed bowling and time with his family.

He was born in Rockingham on Sept. 22, 1932, the son of Simon Miltonmore and Lucy Etta (Tuttle) Unwin.

Mr. Unwin attended schools in Grafton and Townsend, Vt. He later attended Nathaniel Hawthorne College, the Keene, N.H., campus. He married on Nov. 7, 1953 to Claire Bennett
