ObituarySep 16, 2009  OBITUARY: Rosa Meurnier Patoine, 101, died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at Greensboro Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 25, 1907, in Brompton, Quebec, the daughter of Henri and Marie Louise Dufresne Meurnier.

Rosa was a homemaker and raised 16 children along with her husband on the family farm. Her family was the center of her life and she truly enjoyed the time she spent with them. She loved to make bread, braid rugs and make blankets. She continued gardening up to the age of 92. She was a member of the Vermont Council of the Arts and Catholic Daughters Group, Court St. Veronica's, #1273.

She is survived by daughters, Marguerite LaBree of Lyndonville, Angeline Deschamps (Louis) of Hardwick, Theresa Rayta (Donald) of N. Hyde Park, Lucile Keene of Hardwick, and Denise Adams (Wendell) of Canaan, N.H; sons, Clement Patoine of Sutton, Leo Patoine (Jeanette) of Lyndonville, Normand Patoine (Winnie) of Woodsville, N.H., Bernard Patoine (Cecile) of St. Johnsbury Center, Fernand Patoine of Hardwick, Frank Patoine (Elsie) of Walden, Lawrence Patoine (Evelyn Perry) of Hardwick, Victor Patoine (Kathryn) of Wolcott, Guy Patoine (Rolanda ) of Hardwick, and Andre Patoine of Sutton; 55 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great grandchildren.She was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. Patoine; a son, Henry E. Patoine; grandson, Phillip Patoine; granddaughters, Doris Boulay and Katherine Patoine; son-in-law, Raymond LaBree; daughters-in-law, Donna Patoine, Marguerite Patoine, and Therese Patoine; and several siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Norbert's Church in Hardwick. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the des Groseilliers Funeral Home, 97 Church St., Hardwick. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
