ObituarySep 21, 1988  OBITUARY: FAIRFIELD -- Mrs. Hilda M. Chaplin, age 71, wife of Phillip J. Chaplin, died Tuesday morning Sept 20 at a St. Albans Nursing Home following a long illness.
She was born in Greenville, Maine, Sept. 9, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Lydia (Martin) Pollander. Mrs. Chaplin was a resident of Fairfield for the past 31 years and a member of St. Patricks Church in Fairfield Center.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip J. Chaplin; two sons, Phillip J. Chaplin Jr. of Sheldon, and Ivan Chaplin of Enfield, CT; three brothers, Ernest Pollander of Woodsville, N.H., Freeman Pollander of Westtown, N.Y., and Wilford Pollander of Vergennes; five sisters, Mrs. Gladys Lumbra of Franklin, Mrs. Elmer (Rita) Wetherby of Richford, Mrs. Harland (Glendora) Birch of Salem, N.Y., Mrs. Robert (Eloise) Demar of Franklin, and Mrs. Reba Swift of Richford; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Spears Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
