ObituaryNov 11, 1999  OBITUARY: STERLING - David S. Forkey Jr., 84, formerly of 141 Princeton Road, 1 Ed Clark Road, Hubbardston, and Pine Acres, Paxton, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.

His wife of 60 years, Mary C. (Cantell) Forkey, died in 1997. He leaves a son, Mark Forkey of Sterling; two daughters, Rosemary Ritchie of Hubbardston and Dianne Jacobson of Brookfield; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of David S. and Mary A. (Parsons) Forkey, and graduated from South High School. He also graduated from New England School of Accounting.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge.

He lived in Paxton for many years before moving to Sterling and Hubbardston.

Mr. Forkey was foreman for many years at Eastern Fence and Wire Co., retiring several years ago. He was a saxophone player and played with the Bob Berry Band in the area. He was also a member of the Barber Shop Quartet.

The funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 12, from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Church, 5 Worcester Road, Princeton. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Massachusetts Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
