ObituaryApr 28, 2000  OBITUARY: THEODORE R. ""TED" BOARDMAN BLACKSBURG, Va. — Theodore Robert ""Ted" Boardman, 92, formerly of Montpelier Center, Vt., departed this life Thursday, April 27, 2000, in Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem with his close family by his side.

Ted, the son of the late Augustus and Edalena (Fisk) Boardman, was born Nov. 8, 1907, in Northfield, Vt. He led a productive and active life. He graduated from Vermont Aggie School in 1931, where he participated in varsity baseball, basketball, track and boxing. In Chelsea, on Oct. 4, 1935, he married June Rogers of Tunbridge. They lived in Montpelier Center from 1941 to 1978. He retired from the Vermont State Agricultural Dept. after 35 years of service, where he was a supervisor of the Vermont Brucellosis Lab. After retirement, they moved to Blacksburg, Va., where they resided for 22 years. He was a member of the Elks Club for over 26 years and was also an avid golfer, having made two holes-in-one. He was club champion of the Montpelier Elks Golf Club in Vermont after being a member for only a year, at the age of 67. He was a member of the Vermont State Guard. He was also a very active member of the Old Meeting House Church in East Montpelier Center, Vt., and a member of the choir.

Ted leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 65 years, June Rogers Boardman of Blacksburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Sandra Boardman of Underhill Center, Vt., and Greg and Shelley Boardman of Blacksburg; two daughters ad sons-in-law, Vivian and John Ball of Willsboro, N.Y., and Gail and Jack Smith of Sydney, Australia; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Alona Litwack and Hilda Rogers, both of Tunbridge, Vt., Evelyn Boardman of Waterbury, Vt., Dorothy Carpenter of Waitsfield, Vt., and Selma Walker of Barre, Vt; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by six brothers, Leonard, Gus Jr., Edwin, William, Vernon, and Herbert; and one sister, Lillian Turpin.

Interment will follow in the Tunbridge Village Cemetery.
