ObituaryApr 5, 2006  OBITUARY: CLAREMONT -- James Harland Boardman, 93, formerly of Franklin Street in Claremont and the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Jeffrey, died April 3, 2006, in Peterborough Community Hospital.

He was born in Hartland Four Corners, Vt., June 3, 1912, to Alden Gerard and Hulda Jane (Brooks) Boardman and resided in Claremont most of his life.

He owned and operated Jim Boardman's Radio and TV Sales and Service in Claremont from the late 1940s until retiring in 2002. He also owned and operated Mid City Lanes Bowling Alley for 10 years, located over the old IGA Store on Pleasant Street in Claremont until it was destroyed by fire on April 1, 1969.

He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the John Cain Country Club in Newport, a member of Father Cote Council 1820 and Father Cote Assembly 0635 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, a volunteer at Valley Regional Hospital for more than 30 years, and a communicant of St. Mary Church, where he ushered for 40 years. He was also one of the original directors of the St. Mary Cavalier Drum and Bugle Corps.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary B. (Marcotte) Boardman, in 1986, just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The family includes daughter Marie B. Isham of Peterborough; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; brother Lester Boardman of Pearl River, N.Y; nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Calling hours are at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St., Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Members of the Father Cote Council Knights of Columbus will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday for a prayer service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church, with the Rev. Shawn M. Therrien officiating.

Interment will be at a later date in St. Mary Cemetery.
