ObituaryJun 15, 2022  OBITUARY: SWANTON – Charles Edward Hoague Sr., age 63, passed away on June 7, 2022, at Northwestern Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

Charles was born on January 15, 1959, to the late Vida (Martin) and Napoleon Hoague.

He spent many years in Connecticut with his mother. He worked several odd jobs and one of his favorites was working as a prep cook at the Ramada Inn. Charles moved back to Vermont in 1979 where he met the love of his life, Gale on March 8, 1980. Gale and Charles have spent 42 years happily married. Charles always had his faithful furry companions Max and Bandit. Max was always Charles eyes and protector while on small walks in the neighborhood. He made sure Charles stopped when his sugar levels got low. Charlie was well known in town and loved by many.

He is survived by his wife, Gale (Paquette) Hoague; their children, Charles Hoague Jr. and Mel of Berkshire, Bradley Hoague and his wife Jessica of Fairfax, and Amanda Hoague-Nesbitt and her husband Andrew of Swanton; four special grandchildren, Riley Reed, Dakota Hoague, Sophie Reed, and Levi Hoague; brothers, Napoleon, Michael, and Arthur; sisters, Sandy, Judy, Elmirah, Elizabeth, and Vida; his best friend, Lorenzo St. Francis; and many nieces and nephews.

He held a special bond with his first-born grandson Riley who has been by his grandfather’s side every day of his life, physically holding each other up and guiding each other through the good and bad days. Their bond never went unnoticed, and they couldn't be separated.

In respect of Charles wishes, the family will be holding a private life celebration at their Swanton home.
