ObituaryJan 9, 2001  OBITUARY: RICHFORD – Sylvia M. Mayhew, age 95, died Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2001, at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 2, 1905 in Enosburg Falls, the daughter of the late Joseph & Lucy (Duval) Sylvester.

She was a resident of Richford most of her life and was a member of All Saints Catholic and the Ladies of St. Ann Society. She was a housekeeper for the Catholic Church in Sheldon Springs and Bristol. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Dora & Lyle Hurtubise of Richford; a sister, Albina Duval of Enosburg Falls; a daughter-in-law, Claire Mayhew of St. Johnsbury; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George Mayhew, a daughter Agatha Mayhew Degree; a son, George Mayhew; four brothers, Hermas, Napoleon, Earl & Lloyd Sylvester.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Rev. Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be this spring in All Saints Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call on the family Wednesday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on 140 Main St. in Richford.
