ObituaryMay 2, 2009  OBITUARY: Geneva O. Bohannon, 88, of Union Street, Waterbury, passed away in the comfort of her family at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin on Thursday, April 30, 2009. Born in Waterville on January 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lela (Pepeau) Constantine. On May 21, 1943, she married Elwin J. "Buster" Bohannon in Waterbury. Buster predeceased Geneva on March 18, 1992.

Geneva attended Waterbury High School and then went on to receive her license as a practical nurse and her certification as a psychiatric technician at the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury. She retired from VSH in 1984 after 31 years of service.

A member of Queen Esther Chapter 7, OES for more than 50 years, her other memberships included RSVP and the Red Hat Society. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting afghans, playing cards, and word puzzles. Geneva and Buster also took great pleasure in snowmobiling and camping.
The matriarch of a very close and loving family, Geneva is survived by two daughters, Sharlia Palmer and her husband Delbert of Waitsfield and Virginia Barton and her husband Bernard of Zephyrhills, FL; three grandchildren, Shawn Young and her husband Mark of Waitsfield, Susan Burbank of Waitsfield, and Dr. Andrew Barton and his fiancée Erin Lane of Newbury, MA. Geneva was lovingly called Grammie Donuts by her five great-grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan and Jared Young, and Sabrina and Natasha Burbank, all of Waitsfield. Geneva was predeceased by five sisters, Ramona Merrill, Reba Gladden, Evelyn Otis, Shirley Trombley and her twin sister, Jeanette Broadwell; a brother Omer Constantine; and a granddaughter, Shelah Palmer.

Graveside services were held from Hope Cemetery in Waterbury on Monday, May 4, at 11 a.m. There were no calling hours.
