ObituaryFeb 8, 2011  OBITUARY: MONKTON - Jessie E. Bennett, 89, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011 at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home in Burlington.

She was born March 14, 1921 in Monkton, the daughter of Fay and Lucretia Bushey Higbee.

Predeceased by her husband, John Bennett, in 1982. Jessie is survived by seven children, Norton and Jacqueline Bennett of Monkton, Doris Brace of Monkton, Henry Bennett of Monkton, Susan and Roger Hier of Monkton, Roger and Cora Bennett of N.C., Joe and Annette Bennett of Granville, N.Y., Beryl Gregory of Ticonderoga, N.Y; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Woods; a daughter-in-law, Faith Bennett of Monkton; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son, Walter Bennett; grandson, John Bennett; a brother, George Higbee; and a sister, Georgeiana Holcomb.

Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10 at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes.

Interment will be in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln in the spring. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes on Thursday from 3 p.m. up to the hour of the funeral.
