ObituaryMar 16, 1999  OBITUARY: MAURICE E. ROBITAILLE, age 82, husband of Jeanette (St. Jules) Robitailie, died peacefully Sunday evening, March 14, 1999, at his home with his family by his side following a long, courageous battle with pulmonary disease.

Maurice was born July 30, 1916 in L’ange Gardien, P.Q., Canada, the son of the late Leandre and Emerilda (Beauvais) Robitaille.

Maurice was a resident of East Berkshire since 11944 and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in East Berkshire. He owned and operated a dairy farm for 44 years, retiring in 1988. He will be remembered as a special husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a great passion for harness racing, especially with his own horses. He had his own race track on his farm where he would race against his friends every Sunday. His sons would often join him.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannette Robitaille of East Berkshire; six sons and their wives, Leon and Desneige Robitaille of West Swanton; Rosaire and Rachelle Robitaille of Montgomery; Normand and Bonnie Robitaille of Richford, Rene Robitaille and his fiancée Debbie Gross, Roger Robitaille and his friend Lisa Howard, all o Enosburg Falls; Paul Robitaille and his fiancée Ellie Conger of East BERkshire; four daughters, Rolande Robitaille of Bethanie, P.Q., Raymonde Couture and her husband Paul of North Berkshire, Denise Lafountaine of East Berkshire, Jeannine Hall and her husband Kirk of Jacksonville, Fla; 36 grandchldren, 39 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Origene Robitaille of West Swanton and Ange Aime Robitaille of St. Petersburg, Fla; two sisters, Suzanne Lefevere of Farnum, P.Q. and Rita Tessler of St. Sabine P.Q; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two infant children, Norman in 19948 and Jeannine in 1947; a daughter, Micheline in 1958; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Couture in 1964; a grandson, Robert Robitaille in 1962; two sisters, Rachelle St. Jules and Loratta Vachon; and to half sisters, Ceceil Robert and Leo Leville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Reverend Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be later this spring in All Saints Cemetery in Richford.


Visiting hours will be held Wednesday fro 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on Dickinson Avenue in Enosburg Falls.
