ObituaryJul 21, 2010  OBITUARY: Mr. Edmond Joseph Brien, 77, of 44 George Ave. North Adams, died Monday July 19, 2010 at Albany Medical Center.

He was born in Orleans, Vt. on March 16, 1933, son of Armand and Lillian Champigny Brien. He attended schools in Vermont.

Mr. Brien was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served from 1955 to 1957.

He was last employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 30 years until his retirement in 1995. Before that, he worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. Since his retirement, he worked at Price Chopper on State Rd. and Stop & Shop in North Adams.

Mr. Brien was a communicant of the former Incarnation Church. He was a member of the Eagles #310 in North Adams. He was a member of the Masons and the Cairo Shriners of Rutland, Vt. He enjoyed golfing, camping, and travel.

His wife, the former Carol J. Copeland, died on October 7, 2008. They were married on April 12, 1958.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Brien and James Brien of North Adams, and Jody Brien of Williamstown; one grandson, Joshua Brien; three great- grandchildren, Chelsea, Joshua, and Ashley; five sisters, Anita Roy, Judy Tallmerine, Angela Bonin, Rose Anne LaBounty, and Doris Bonin; two brothers, George Brien and Richard Brien; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He was predeceased by a son, Kevin Brien, who died March 10, 1984; and two brothers, Conrad and David Brien.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Edmond Joseph Brien will be Friday, July 23, 2010 at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
