ObituaryAug 11, 2009  OBITUARY: BARRE CITY - Maurice Conrad Brien, 75, of Merchant Street died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at his home.

Born in Newport on Feb. 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Armand and Lillian (Champigny) Brien. He attended the Sacred Heart School in Newport.

Maurice worked as a truck driver for Norton Brothers in Essex, retiring in 2002.

In his spare time he enjoyed working on trucks and automobiles.

He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church of Barre.

Survivors include three brothers and five sisters: Anita Roy of Newport, Joseph Brien of North Adams, Mass., George Brien of Winston Salem, N.C., Judith Pallermine of Highlandville, Mo., Angela Bonin of Newport Center, Roseanne LaBounty of Brandystone, Va; Richard Brien of Barre; and Doris Bonin of Billingham, Mass. He was predeceased by one brother, David Brien.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at 1 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery in Newport. Per his request, there will be no calling hours.
