ObituaryApr 4, 2011  OBITUARY: Mrs. Grace Amy O'Connell, age 91, died peacefully on Saturday afternoon, April 2, 2011, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Bakersfield January 18, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Irving and Laura (Dunham) Stone.

She attended school in Bakersfield and was a graduate of Brigham Academy, Class of 1937.

July 14, 1937 she married Fay O'Connell, who predeceased her on August 3, 1976.

She was a lifelong member of the East Fairfield Congregational Church and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. Grace was a hard worker all of her life. She worked in the hot lunch programs, at Union Carbide Consumer Products and a histology technician in the lab at the former Kerbs Memorial Hospital for 20 years. After retirement from the hospital she was employed in the Enosburgh and Bakersfield Elementary Schools.

Her survivors include her children Donna and her husband Don Bower of Temple, Texas, Gloria and her husband Gary "Sam" Geddes of East Fairfield, daughter-in-law Pam O'Connell of St. Albans, sons Philip and his wife Heidrun O'Connell of Palm Harbor, Fla., David and his wife Connie O'Connell of St. Albans, Richard and his wife Martha O' Connell of St. Albans, a sister Fran Machia of Niatic, Ct., sisters-in-law Barbara Stone of East Fairfield and Ramona Stone of Enosburgh Falls, her grandchildren and their spouses Jeff and Carole O'Connell, Keeli and Dale Metz, Jill and Vernon Boomhover, Debbie and Mike Nye, Diane Randy, Demetra Bower, Mike and Donna O'Connell, Christine O'Connell, Sandra and Dennis Paquette, Donald and Serena O'Connell, Gary and Cherie Geddes, Tim and April Geddes, Sara and Jason Bessette, Samantha and Sean Isgett and Faye O'Connell, 27 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and her parents she was predeceased by her sons Tommy and Gary, granddaughters Dawn Lea and Doreen, sisters Hilda Morey and Mary Teague, brothers: Ivan, Mark Stone, Harold Stone, Irving H Stone and Calvin W Stone.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 11:00 A. M. in the United Church of Bakersfield and East Fairfield. Pastor Rev. Lyle Miller will officiate.

Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St, St. Albans, from 4 to 8 Friday evening, May 13, 2011. Burial will be at the convenience of her family.
