He was born on Sept. 7, 1921 in Vermont and has lived over 35 years in Springfield. He was son to the late Joseph and Regina (Prive) Godin.

He was a communicant of Assumption Church. He was a WWII Army Veteran and later in life worked at Leos Mobil Station as a Service Station Attendant for 35 years before he retired in 1983. He was a member of the American Legion Liberty Post, the Disabled American Veterans Club and the Catholic Order of Foresters in Montgomery Center, VT.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Ida Mae (Deuso) Godin. He leaves his son Bruce A. Godin and his wife Judy of Springfield; four daughters Judith Olko and her husband Edward II of Springfield, Monita Roberts and her husband Michael of Ware, Cynthia Durej and her husband Steven of East Longmeadow and Lisa Goodrow and her husband Ronald of Springfield; his brother Leo P. Godin of Orange, MA and his sister Bertha Hart of North Troy, VT. He is predeceased by several siblings. He also leaves his beloved 9 grandchildren Edward Olko III, Tamika Ross, Amanda Godin, Joseph Roberts, Steven Durej Jr., Jaymie Godin, Christopher Goodrow, Dustin Durej and Lindsay Goodrow, along with his six great grandchildren Antoine Diaz, Jocelyn Ross, Kierstyn Ross, Sophie Olko, Cameron Durej and Aubrey Olko.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24 , 2009 at 8:30 a.m from the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Rose de Lima Church at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial in St Rose de Lima Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
