ObituaryDec 30, 2014  OBITUARY: Edward Collins LaFlam, Jr. passed away at home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina on Dec. 5, 2014 after a nine month illness.

He was born May 25, 1933 in Enosburg Falls, VT, son of the late Edward and Jessie LaFlam.
As a young man Ed moved to CT, where he met and married Patricia Shear on June 7th 1952. Together they raised five children in a loving home which they built themselves in Danbury. They moved to Surfside Beach, SC in 1996 and have shared a wonderful life with many friends there, and frequent family visits.

Edward is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia. His children: David of ME, Lisa (Jeffrey) Buzaid of Sherman, CT, Cyndee (Allen) Lord of New Milford, CT, Michele (Daniel) LeDuc of SC. His beloved grandchildren: Dale LaFlam, Melanie Healey, Alexandra, Jake, and Zachary Buzaid, Austin and Alison Lord, Dillon LeDuc, Derek Hughes and Jacqueline Crider. His great grandchildren: Callie LaFlam, Declan and Lily Healey, Charlette Rose Lord Santos and Noah Crider. He also leaves his sister: Beverly Dudley of CT; and many nieces and nephews.
Edward was predeceased by his son, Kevin and his siblings, Roger, James and Betty.

Edward entered the United States Army in 1953 and was stationed in Germany. He was employed for many years in the Danbury CT area, and was a member of the Teamsters Union, retiring to South Carolina.

Edward was a "family first" man. He took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, made laughter a shared ingredient of his message to all of them. He was always ready to share his knowledge of the practical and offer his support for most any project. He lived his later years in the South remaining active in local community projects. He enjoyed his card club and bocce regularly and always keeping tabs on his local weather where any of the family was, and what they were involved in. He loved to drive, New England, snow, and country music. His youthful spirit, attention to detail, wit and humor will be sorely missed. He was our "master of the house".

There will be a memorial in celebration of his life January 10, 2015 in Surfside Beach, SC. Interment will be in the King Street United Church of Christ Cemetery, Danbury, CT at the convenience of the family.

Contributions in Ed's memory may be made to the King Street United Church of Christ, 201 South King Street, Danbury, CT 06811.
