ObituaryMay 1, 1959  OBITUARY: Elizabeth Sarah "Lizzie" Twombly was 77 years old when she passed away. She was the daughter of Edwin and Sarah (LaFrance) Elliott born in Ontario Canada. Lizzie immigrated in 1885. She married Winfield Yates in 1898 and together they had a son Archie Winfield in May 1900 in Holland, Vt. They had a daughter, Eletta Effie Yates in 1911 and in 1912 Winfield was killed in a railway accident in Canada. Lizzie married Samuel Mitchell in 1913 and they had a daughter Lylas Sarah Mitchell. Lizzie was widowed again and remarried a third time to Fred Ernest Twombly in 1930. She outlived Fred.

Both of her daughters were living in Charlotte and she joined them there. She would begin spending 6 months in North Carolina and take the Greyhound Bus Lines to Boston and stay with her son Archie in Lynn, MA for 6 months in summer. There she would make homemade doughnuts much to the delight of her great grandchildren.
