ObituaryFeb 27, 2009  OBITUARY: NEWPORT - Reginald Oscar Seguin, 82, of Newport, passed away on February 26, 2009, in Lebanon, NH.

He was born on January 11, 1927, in Newport, a son of Albert J. and Elvira Floy (Cummings) Seguin.

In his high school years he was an All Star baseball and football player, accumulating in his invitation to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, but he was drafted into the Army during WWII.

Mr. Seguin married Dorothy Dale who predeceased him in 1996. Reginald operated Seguin Music in Newport for many years. Among his hobbies he enjoyed playing the piano and organ at various social events. He also played with his brothers in a band during the Big Band era. He played the organ at the Newport Baptist Church, and more recently at Grace Brethren Church in Irasburg, and studied at the N.E. Conservatory of Music in Boston.

He is survived by his two children, Dean Seguin and his wife, Shirley, of Castleton and Stacey Seguin of Newport and Montreal; 3 grandchildren; David, Rebecca, and Sean Seguin of Castleton; sister-in-law Helen Seguin of Newport; several nieces and nephews, predeceased by a son Dale Seguin on February 23, 2001, two brothers Gordon "Bud" and Richard "Dick" Seguin.

Funeral services will be held at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Memorial Chapel, 37 Lake Road, Newport on Tuesday March 3, 2009 at 3:00 PM with the Rev. Scott Libby officiating. Friends may call from 1 PM on Tuesday March 3, 2009 at the funeral home until the hour of the funeral. Spring interment will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport.
