ObituaryAug 1, 2013  OBITUARY: David F. Sicard, 76, a resident of Bridport,VT and Palmetto, FL died Monday, July 29, 2013 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after a battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born April 5, 1937, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (LaBor) Sicard.

He was a graduate of Barton Academy , class of 1955, graduated from Lyndon State College in 1959 and completed his graduate work from Boston University, University of Massachusetts, and the University of Vermont.

He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963.

David found his calling in education and taught in several communities in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts before becoming the district superintendent of schools in Lyndonville, Vermont.

On May 30, 1991 David married Penny Dwyer at St. Joseph's Church in Hinsdale, NH. After retiring, he and his wife, Penny wintered in Palmetto,FL. David enjoyed many hobbies. He delighted in owning, race horses and was an acomplised driver and trainer. Other interests included gardening, genealogy, playing gold with family and friends, and watching his beloved Red Sox. David also enjoyed traveling, recently having visited France to see the region which his family hailed.

Surviving family members include two sons, Thomas M. Sicard of New Jersey David L. Sicard of Alburg, VT ; three daughters, Nancy B. Sicard of Buxton, ME, Amy Kutchukian and Jennifer Sicard of Swanton; two stepsons, Bertrand M. Galbreath of Southbridge, MA and Zachery S. Galbreath of Saratoga Springs, NY; two brothers, Michael Sicard of Bradenton, FL and Terry Sicard of Barton, VT ; five sisters, Barbara Perkins of Orleans, VT, Susan Sicard of Barton, VT, Betsy Diette of Sutton,VT, Patty Royea of Lyndonville, VT and Judy Fitzpatrick of Mooreville,NC He is survived by nine grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brothers; James and Lawrence Sicard and sister Mary Sicard.

The family will receive friends from 9-10 AM Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at ST. Mary's Church, 326 College St., Middlebury, VT. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM August 6, 2013 with the Rev. William R. Beaudin, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial with military honors will take place at 1:30 PM at Vermont Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Furnace Rd., Randolph, VT.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main st., Middlebury, VT.
