ObituaryApr 17, 2003  OBITUARY: HIGHGATE SPRINGS -- Eunice "Kit" Minckler, 76, of Highgate Springs, died peacefully at her home on April 16, 2003, after a 10-year battle with colon cancer.

Eunice was born, Aug. 25, 1926, the daughter of the late Elmire Hakey Greenia and Ed Hakey. On Dec. 20, 1941, she married Ralph T. Minckler who predeceased her Oct. 20, 1997.

Kit is survived by her children and their spouses, daughter, Rita Ledoux of Highgate Springs, daughter, Carol and David Tessier of Highgate Springs, son, Chuck Minckler and companion, Nancy "Cookie" St. Francis of Highgate Springs, and son, Tom and Debbie Minckler of Fairfield. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Jamie Ledoux and her companion John, Jennifer Ledoux and her companion Ray, Sharon Ledoux and her companion Allen, Todd, Michelle and Missy Tessier and Glen Minckler and Molly Minckler and her friend Ray; six great-grandchildren, Nate Peno, Shane LaPan, Josh Ledoux, Chelsea Messier, Kayla Samson and Caitlan Varin; four sisters and their spouses, Joan and Bud Johnson of Rochester, N.Y., Sheila and Doug Montgomery of Rochester, N.Y., Eldora Williams of Swanton and the late Mary Lou Demar of Swanton; two brothers and their spouses, Darrence and Jean (Barnes) Hakey of Swanton and Francis and Marge Hakey of Kissimee, Fla. Also surviving are four sisters-in-law and her stepmother, Florence Hakey of Swanton.

A son-in-law, James Ledoux, predeceased her.

She will be missed by all especially her cat "Fritzy."

A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the family lot in the Highgate Center Cemetery. Gifts in "Kit's" memory may be made to the, American Cancer Society, 11 Loomis Street, Montpelier, Vt. 05602-3021.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton.
