ObituarySep 18, 2006  OBITUARY: ST. ALBANS - Gladys Hazel Conger Minckler, 88, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at the home of her daughter, Linda Stell, with her loving family at her side. She was born in St. Albans on Feb. 2, 1918, the daughter of the late Harold Lee and Helen Vaughn (Martell) Conger. She was married to Carl Guy Minckler, who predeceased her in 1975.

Survivors include her two daughters, Beverly Nichols and her husband, Fred of Berkshire, and Linda Stell of St. Albans; a son, Charles Conger Jr. and Earlene Conger of St. Albans; two sisters, Myrtle Duprey of Swanton and Gloria Sweeny and her husband, Marvin of Florida; her brother, Carl Martell of Swanton; four sisters-in-law, Hilda St. Francis of Swanton, Muriel LeClair of Richford, Evelyn Hope of Massachusetts and Mary Martell of Florida; eight grandchildren: Kenny Stell, Kim Dufresne, Jay and Scott Nichols, Karen Green, Floyd Tatro, Sheila Longe and Christian Conger; nine great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, Cassidy Dufresne; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her special friends, Ernie and Sherrie Farrar, Evelyn Martin, Martha Graham, Sandy Robtoy, Sandy Greenwood; as well as her pets, Benji and Samantha. In addition to her parents and her husband, Carl, Gladys was predeceased by a son, Donald Minckler; a son-in-law, Kenneth Stell; three sisters, Leona Aldrich, Cecile Geraw and Elva Wells; and five brothers: Charles, William and Lee Conger, Floyd Martell and Herbert Martell.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main St., with the Reverend Kerry Cameron officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Highgate Center Cemetery. Gladys' family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
