ObituaryDec 26, 1996  OBITUARY: Henry Murphy, 83 a lifelong resident of this community joined his beloved wife Gladys early Monday morning, Dec 23, 1996, in the verdelle Village Extended Care Facility in St Albans.
For 25 years John was associated with Worthmore Feeds and later worked several years on the Donald Dunsmore farm. He was a member of the Abenaki Nation of Vermont.
He was born in St Albans, June 3, 1913, the son of the late James and Sarah (Sweeney) Murphy. On Oct 9, 1941 he married the former Gladys Pearl Stearns who predeceased him, Sept 20 1995.
John is survived by his two sons and daughter in law; John H Murphy of Johnstown, NY and Steven and Diane Murphy of Sebastian, FL. Three daughters and son in law; Shirley and Robert Lapan Sr of Swanton, Debbie and Raymond Corliss of St Albans, and Kathleen and Thomas (Butch) Thompson of Swanton. 14 grand children, 7 great grand children, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his extended family of loving residents and staff at Verdelle Village.
He was predeceased by a brother James Murphy in 1995.
Funeral services will be held Saturday Dec 28, 1996, at 3 pm. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave, Swanton. Interment will follow in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home on Saturday from 2-3.
