She was born March 15, 1936 in Enosburg Falls, the second child of C. Donald and Virginia (Thomas) Ewins.
Mary graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in 1953 and Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City for 24 years when she was called home to care for her dying mother. She then worked at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital until her retirement in 1997.
Mary loved classical music; good movies; non-fiction books; antiques; her cat, Sassy; her flower gardens, her “little brick house by the river” and last, but not least, a good Margarita!
Mary leaves her son, Eric Rideout, whom she gave up for adoption as an infant; her brother, Richard (Susie) Ewins of West Berkshire; her sister, Nancy (David) Vincent of St. Albans and Georgia; her sister-in-law, Maxie Ewins of Charlotte; her cousin, Peter (Carol) Stark of Maine and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her beloved brother, George (2015) and her cherished father and mother, C. Donald (1998) and Virginia (1981)
Mary’s family would like to thank Our Lady of the Meadows and Franklin County Rehab for providing such wonderful care.
