Obituary*Nov 9, 2022  OBITUARY: COVENTRY– Irene L. Smith Royea Newcomb, age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2nd, at her Coventry home with her family by her side.

She was born in Franklin, New Hampshire on January 21st, 1930, to the late Bernard and Vera (Boulieu) Smith.

Irene was one of five children growing up at the Daniel Webster home for children. Irene graduated in 1949 from Concord High School. As an adult she worked at a diner and met many wonderful people. Soon after she met Ralph A. Royea Sr., they married and had eight children. Irene had a passion for sewing and worked at the sewing factory in Enosburg, then moved on to working for Bogner Sewing Factory in Newport. She loved to do puzzles, cross stitching, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She also enjoyed many crafty activities like using colored pencils and making pictures. She cherished making all the newborn babies in the family their first baby blankets. Irene adored Chico, her daughters’ dog. He would always greet her with kisses and take naps with her.

She is survived her children, Ralph Royea Jr. (Karen)of Ohio, Debra Hale (Dave) of Florida, Karen Lamoureaux (Steve) of VT, Michael Royea (Helen) of Virginia, Lori Royea and partner Larry Royer Sr. of Vermont, Cheryl Brunner of Florida, Patty Daniels of Florida, and Mike Bordidinat of Virginia; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, Ralph A. Royea Sr., children, David and Donna Royea; grandsons, Patrick Royea and David Royea Jr; siblings, Eleanor Willette, Barbara Perry, Bernard Smith, and Robert Smith. .

Friends and family are invited to Irene’s Life Celebration to include a memorial service on Saturday, November 12th, 2022, at 3:00PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Avenue Enosburg Falls VT 05450.
