ObituaryMay 29, 1945  OBITUARY: S/SGT Lawrence T. Duffy served on a B-29 Superfortress during World War II. On April 13, 1945, his plane was shot down over Tokyo. Duffy survived and was taken prisoner, but subsequently died in a Japanese prison fire when the guards refused to release the POWs from their burning cells.

His body was not recovered. Lawrence Duffy's name is inscribed at the Courts of the Missing in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.
