He was born March 10, 1934, in North Troy, a son of George and Mildred (Farrar) Rowland.

He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1975 as an SK-2.  At one time, Mr. Rowland was also employed at Ethan Allen Manufacturing, Bogner of America, and Rural Community Transportation.  He held membership with the Order of the Elks #2155.  He enjoyed playing bingo and stamp collecting.

He is survived by his daughters:  Lori Royer and her husband, Paul, of Newport and Julie Nelson and her husband, Michael, of Orleans; by four grandchildren:  Andrea, Lisa, David and Danielle; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by the following sisters and brothers:  George Rowland, Marjorie Prue, Eloise Chicoine, Windfield Rowland, and Viola Pollard.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Maple Lane Nursing Home Activities Fund, 60 Maple Hill, Barton, Vermont 05822.
