ObituaryJan 3, 2005  OBITUARY: WILLIAMSTOWN - Ramona K. Hardaker, 74, longtime resident of Williamstown, died Thursday Dec. 30, 2004, after a long illness at the Woodbridge Nursing Home in Berlin. She was born in Brookfield, March 27, 1930, the daughter of Herbert and Gladys (Williams) Knowles. She is a graduate of Randolph High School class of 1947.

She had been married to Eddie E. Hardaker. Prior to her illness, she worked as head cook at the Berlin Elementary School. She had also worked at the Initial Home Bakery, Williamstown schools as cook, the Heiress Motel, the Wayside Restaurant, and operated "Ramona's Home style", a booth at the Tunbridge Fair, for 15 years.

She was a member of the United Federated Church in Williamstown, the church choir, Brookfield Singers and the Barre Choraleers. She enjoyed baking, playing the piano and loved all the children at school.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Hardaker and his wife, Trena of Williamstown; two daughters, Kathleen and her husband, Myron Coburn of Williamstown, and Carla Murtagh of Manchester, Conn; one sister, Zita Champney of S. Royalton; one brother, Arthur Knowles and his wife, Lucille of Plainfield; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by two children, Arthur and Cynthia; three brothers, Alfred, Gerald and Leon Knowles.

Calling hours will be conducted Monday Jan. 3 from 2-3 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. at the Kingston Funeral Home, 35 Slate Avenue, in Northfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Woodbridge Nursing Home Activity Fund, PO Box 550, Barre, Vt. 05641.
