She was born in Whitingham on Sept. 18, 1913, the daughter of Lyman E. and Elsie (Jerome) Davidson.

She lived in Brattleboro for most of her life and was active in the Brattleboro Women's Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary, the Brattleboro Historical Club, the VFW Auxiliary and was a 50-year member of the Pocahontas Council.

She was married to John E. Akley, who predeceased her in 1976. She held various jobs but enjoyed most being an Avon representative in the Brattleboro area for more than 30 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Stark of Brattleboro and Etta Dodge of Brattleboro; two half brothers, Robert Davidson of Connecticut and David Davidson of Kentucky; a sister, Velma Merrifield of Richmond, N.H; a half-sister Kathy Williams of Brattleboro; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Emily Boyd, and a brother, Lyman L. Davidson.4
