ObituaryAug 23, 2015  OBITUARY: Long-time Palm Springs resident Herbert P. Corey died at his home on August 22, 2015. Herb was born December 4, 1920, in Barre, Vermont. His many friends were anticipating celebrating his 95th birthday this coming December. Herb graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre. Early in his life, Herb found himself in New York City where he studied interior design and got his feet wet in show business. He appeared in musical revues and notably in the musical "Boys From Syracuse". He teamed up with singer/comedienne Carole Cook, who frequently appears in shows in the Desert. He and Carole appeared at the Versailles in New York as well as on the legendary Ed Sullivan show. During his show business days he worked with and became friends with celebrities like Bea Arthur, Barbara Rush, Tom Troupe, and Julia Mead. Herb lived an exciting and fun-filled life. While pursuing his show business career, he received his degree in interior design from prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York. He also served in the Army during WW2. After leaving New York, Herb spent most of his life in the design field in Hawaii and San Francisco. Prior to his retiring in Palm Springs in 1990, he lived in Mill Valley in Marin County and worked at the Design Center in San Francisco. Herb attended St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Palm Springs and worked for Catholic Charities for many years in the Bay Area and the Desert. Until health issues entered his life, he was an avid tennis player. Herb will be fondly remembered by his many friends for his sense of humor, sharp wit, and good taste. He will be missed especially by his two close friends and companions Paul Grusell and Andrew Dimas who were a major part of his life for over five decades.
