ObituaryJan 3, 2007  OBITUARY: RICHFORD – Gerard J. Paquette, age 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, after a long illness at the Haven Health Care Facility in St. Albans with his family at his side.
He was born Dec. 9, 1921, in St. Culbert, Quebec Canada, the son of the late Mastai and Arselie (Gregoire) Paquette.
Gerard loved farming, gardening and family gatherings. He owned and operated Paquette's Store (formerly Carmen's Store) in East Franklin for several years. He also worked as a carpenter's helper with his son, Daniel and finally worked for the Town of Richford for eight years, retiring in 1997.
He loved traveling on Bus Tours and to Arizona by plane. He had also enjoyed the two times he had visited Florida. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Richford.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Therese (Laroche) Paquette of Richford; they were married in Highgate Center on June 18, 1946. He is also survived by his three sons, Claude Paquette and his wife Viki of Tempe, Ariz., Marcel Paquette and his wife Kim of Berkshire, and Daniel Paquette and his wife Carol of Berkshire; six daughters, Claudette Garrow of Richford, Rita Garrow and her husband Gordon of Berkshire Center, Monica Neveau and her husband Lance of Berkshire Center, Lucy Lebeau and her husband Jean-Paul of Stanbridge Est, Quebec, Madeline Wetherby and her husband Donald of Richford, and Florence Doyle and her husband Edward of Richford; 24 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Paquette and his wife Doris of Red Hook, N.Y; one sister, Dorilla Larose of White River Junction; one sister-in-law, Margarite Paquette of Richford; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Monique Paquette in 1950; a son, Jerome Paquette in 1961; a granddaughter, Tonya (Garrow) Beaudry in 2003; five brothers, Lucien, Victor, Joseph, John-Louis, and Henri Paquette; and six sisters, Lucille Coulombe, Jeanne Durenleau, Margaret Vien, Marie Louise Martin, Blanche Lessard, and Marie Couture.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Jan. 5, 2007, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Reverend Frank Eksterowicz and Reverend Leonidas Laroche con-celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
