ObituaryJun 10, 2010  OBITUARY: Clyde "Bink" Mercier, Jr., age 71 years, a resident of 52 Liberty St. in Swanton Village died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, June 9, 2010, while mowing his lawn at home following a sudden heart attack.

Born in Chicago, IL on, April 5, 1939, he was the son of the late Clyde Sr. and Alice (Simard) Mercier.

He attended school in Swanton and graduated from the former St. Anne's Academy. He faithfully served his country for several years in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post #1 of St. Albans. He was later associated for approximately 40 years with Ayerst Laboratories of Rouses Point, NY. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Enosburgh Country Club. He physically worked out several times a week as a member of The Fitness Zone in St. Albans and will be remembered by many in the community for his early morning coffee time with friends at the Swanton McDonalds.

Clyde was a faithful parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and had volunteered for a time at the Swanton Community Food Shelf.

He leaves his three children, Bill Mercier of Highgate Springs, Vicky Mercier of Farmington, NH and Becky Hess and her husband Carl of Keeseville, NY; four grandchildren, Richard Parks III, David Hess, William Mercier Jr. and Evan Mercier; one sister, Lois Wilson of Burlington; an aunt, Eileen Mercier of Swanton and several nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Alice Amilhat Parent of El Paso, TX.

Clyde was predeceased by a sister Susan Marie Amilhat on January 26, 2009.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St. Swanton. Fr. Thomas D. Nadeau will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave. Swanton on Monday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
