ObituaryDec 17, 2003  OBITUARY: RICHFORD -- James L. Garrow, Sr., age 80, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Holiday House Nursing Home in St. Albans, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born June 15, 1923, in Montgomery, the son of the late Donald and Lillian (Greene) Garrow.
James worked on several area farms for many years and had also owned and operated the family farm on West Hill in Montgomery. He also worked for Bailey Feeds, H.P. Hood, E.M. Hayes, and was a spare truck driver for McDermotts. Along with his wife, they owned and operated the Richford Dry Cleaners and Laundromat. He was a member of the Richford Methodist Church and a former member of the Richford Lions Club
James will always be remembered for his willingness to help others and most of all his dedication to hard work, which he instilled in his family.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Inzy (Buzzell) Garrow of Richford, they were married Feb. 26, 1944; three sons, James Garrow, Jr. and his significant other, Theodora "Teddie" LaBounty of Enosburg Falls, Robert Garrow and his wife Susan of East Berkshire, and Gordon Garrow and his wife Rita of Berkshire; three daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Gerald Perry of St. Albans, Sandra and Leonard Embury of Richford, and Linda and Donny Marcy of Richford; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Garrow, and his friend Maggie Bero of St. Albans; three sisters, Janice Marston of Enosburg Falls, Gyneth Hauter and her husband Robert of Ocean, N.J., and Helen Ashton of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews. James also leaves a close friend, Wendell Jewett and his wife Evelyn of Richford. He also had a special love for his dog, Queenie. He was predeceased by his father Donald Garrow; his mother, Lillian Frazier; a granddaughter, Tonya Beaudry on Oct. 22, 2003; and a great-granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Kane on Aug. 21, 1993.
Visiting hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral which will be held Friday afternoon at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Reverend Heidi Reinker officiating. Interment will be next spring in the Hillside Cemetery in Richford.
