ObituaryJan 23, 2018  OBITUARY: RICH SQUARE — Marilyn Dudley Stephenson of Rich Square and formerly of Durham, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018.

She was born Nov. 17, 1952, to the late H.N. “Foxy” Stephenson and Nellie Parker Stephenson.

Marilyn graduated from Weldon High School and attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson. Soon after her graduation, she obtained a teaching position at Squire School in Gaston. After a few years she decided teaching was not for her and moved to Durham where she made her career as the assistant to the Dean of Political Science at Duke University. Marilyn loved the beach, beach music, cheering on the Blue Devils and her beloved cats. She was her daddy’s girl and loved being around her family. She was a friend to all and will be remembered by her cheerful smile and kind, positive spirit.

She is survived by her brother, Greg Stephenson of Weldon; her sister-in-law, Sandra Stephenson of Roanoke Rapids; and her nieces, Lauren and Meredith Stephenson.
