ObituaryMay 19, 2015  OBITUARY: WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Robert Fraser Pease, 87, passed away peacefully at the Governor’s Center on May 13, 2015. A longtime Chrysler Corporation dealer in Westfield, MA and 20 year associate of the Bill Bryan Automotive Group in Central Florida, he was the son of the late Kenneth S. Pease, Sr. and Christina (Fraser) Pease. He was predeceased by his wife Jean Cantell Pease in 2007, her son Robert Cantell in 1989, and his brother Kenneth Pease, Jr. in 2000. Bob was a WWII Navy Veteran and Shellback serving on the USS Orion AS18 submarine squadron 6 operating in the Panama area. He attended Chrysler Dealers Sons Institute in Detroit, MI, returning to Westfield to become an active associate of the family dealership. He was honored and proud to have received Chrysler Corp. prestigious quality dealer award seven times and many award trips to several different countries throughout the world. Bob was an active member of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce, a corporator of the former Woronoco Savings Bank, a Westfield Advisory Board member of the former Third National Bank, past president of the Westfield Rotary Club, and a member of the Hampden County Auto Dealers Association, Springfield Ski Club, Valley Sports Car Club, and Experimental Aircraft Association, Florida. He was also a longtime treasurer of the New England Chrysler Dealers Advertising Association. Bob participated in many skiing events and enjoyed the early spring climb to Mt. Washington’s Tuckerman Ravine. He participated in many sports car rallies and races and favored his Porsche vehicles. Bob used his airplane every chance he could in the auto leasing business and participated in many aircraft events with his good friend Don Sinclair. Both Don and Bob became members of the Quiet Birdman Association. Bob and his dad rescued over 40 people during the flood of 1955 and they were finally rescued themselves by two firemen from West Springfield. Both Bob and his dad received the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award. Bob leaves his daughters, Cynthia (Stanley) Button of Waitsfield, VT, Donna Pease of Westford, MA and Andrea (Eric) Moller of Westfield and six granddaughters and two great grandchildren. He also leaves his stepchildren who were a big part of his life, Claudia Cantell (Paul Bartholomew) of Guthrie, OK, Marybeth (Roger) Cummings of Norwood, MA, Pamela Cantell of Westfield, Lynn Cantell (Terry Seymour) of Shelburne Falls, MA, William Cantell of Brimfield, MA, Jeannie (Kevin) Conderino of Denver, CO, and Steven (Cynthia) Cantell of Canton, GA, many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and his companion, Marlene Hills, of Westfield. After the death of his devoted wife, Bob moved back to Westfield to be near his family and friends. He wanted to share his remaining years with someone who had the same interests and friends. Bob asked Marlene Hills, widow of the late Fred Hills who was a lifelong friend to Bob, to be his companion and best friend. Burial will be private in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. A Memorial Service for Bob will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11 AM in the First Congregational Church, 18 Broad St., Westfield, MA.
