| Obituary | Jan 3, 2010 | OBITUARY: Gertrude Anna Hurd, 93, formerly a long time resident of the Old Church Road in Claremont, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Elm Wood Center at Claremont. She was born in Milford, MA on January 23, 1917 the daughter of Herman C. and Lydia I. (Adams) Hentschel and had resided in Claremont since 1962. Mrs. Hurd retired in January of 1990 as a Supervisor at the Encore Shoe Company in Newport where she worked for fifteen years and had previously worked at Albert’s Shoe of Newport and the International Shoe of Claremont. She also worked at Sylvania in Hillsboro, NH. She was the widow of Ward Hurd whom she married on April 14, 1962 and he died December 8, 2006. The family includes, one grand nephew and niece Carl and Carol Willis; one brother in law, Robert Hurd and his wife, Moni of Newport; also numerous nieces and nephews and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday morning, June 4th at Eleven O’clock at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM. The family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to, the March of Dimes Foundation, 109 North Main Street, Concord, NH 03301.
