ObituaryJun 22, 1986  OBITUARY: POTOMAC, MD – Carl W. Blake, 56 ,a former employee of IBM Poughkeepsie from 1956 to 1966, died June 8, 1986 at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, MD.

Mr. Blake, a resident of Potomac, had been a resident of the Washington, DC area since 1967.

He was a Washington investment banker and former Capitol Hill aide, was the managing director of Blake, Brunell, Lehman & Co., an investment banking house that he founded in the late 1970s, and was administrative assistant to Donald W. Riegel Jr., D-Mich., in the House of Representatives and then the Senate.

Mr. Blake was a director of the Netherlands American Amity Trust, an organization to promote business ties between this country and the Netherlands, the Dulles Access Rapid Transit Corp; and the U.S. Ventures, a capital fund.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1956.

Mr. Blake was born Jan. 7, 1930, in Westminster, VT. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1956. He was a graduate of the University of Vermont and received his master’s degree in business administration at Columbia University, New York City.
     
He was married to Margaret Zahtila Blake of Potomac, who survives. He later married Dianne Louise Sly of Potomac, who survives. Mr. Blake is also survived by a son, Carl W. Blake Jr. of Potomac, and a daughter, Leslie Davis of Illinois.

Services were June 11, 1986, at St. James Episcopal Church, Bethesda. Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, DC.
