Mr. Byrum was born in Suffolk. He had retired from Franklin Equipment Co., and was a member of South Quay Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beatrice Spivey Byrum; two sisters, Thadus B. Pate and Goldie B. White, and a brother, Joseph M. Byrum, all of Suffolk.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Ronald Nickels and the Rev. William E. Hawkins. Burial will be in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad.
